Bekal about a kilometre from Bekal Fort, about 16 km South of Kasaragod on the national highway, Kasaragod district, North Kerala
Kasaragod, the northern most district of Kerala is renowned as the land of gods, forts, rivers, hills and beautiful beaches. The imposing fort at Bekal is one of the largest and best preserved forts in Kerala. The beautiful expanse of the shallow beach near the Bekal fort known as Bekal Fort Beach has been developed as an exotic beach location by the Bekal Resorts Development Corporation
The beach at Bekal is rather discontinuous and consists of a series of beaches. The popular ones include the Bekal Fort Beach and Kappil Beach. The beaches feature placid surf and the beach land is shallow, particularly near the famous fort.
By air one can avail the services of Bajpe Airport, located as Mangalore. The distance from the airport to Bekal is about 69 kms.

The monsoons witness a good down pouring in and around the Bekal. That makes the ideal visiting time somewhere before monsoons.

Summers are pleasant and not that harsh.

In winter months there is low visibility and as such it is recommended to schedule the visit for summer season.
