City Information Rathambhore
National Park is situated 14 kms from sawai Madhopur. The park derives
its name from the Ranthambhore Fort situated within its precincts. The vegetation of the park is the tropical dry deciduous & tropical thorn forest type. Due to its hilly tract, water is confined to narrow valleys & some lakes. Important trees species include Dhok, Flame of the forest, Ber, Aam & acacia Lenco Phleea. Rajbagh, Padam Talab & Malik Talab lakes are a paradise for Wildlife & are full of Nymphaeas & Lotus. The herbivorous population includes chital, Sambhar, blue bull & chinkara. Sambhar deer is the pride of the park. There is no park in asia where these largest of all Asiatic deer's can be seen so frequently during the day time. Wild boars & languor are a common sight. Among the reptiles, crocodiles can be basking in the sun near the lakes. The tiger is the biggest attraction of the park. According to naturalists, Rathambhore is one of the best parks in the country for observing & photographing the activities of the tiger. Other carnivores in the park include the leopard, hyena, jackal, fox, caracal, jungle cat & rattle. Around 80 sloth bears are known to exist in the park. The park has more than 300 verities of birds. Common birds see in the reserve are peafowls, parakeets, doves, partridges, storks, egrets, flycatchers, eagles & owls. During the winter months, migratory birds such as graylag goose, ruddy shelduck & paintails are also seen. Some rare birds like the black Eagle & the crested hawk eagle have also been sighted in the park recently. Best Season - The best time for visiting Ranthambhore depends on the special interests of the visitor. The Park is open from 1st October to 30th June, Visiting Hours: 6.30 AM to 9.30 AM & 2.30 PM to 5.30 PM (Timings vary with season) Winter: (Oct to Jan) 7 AM to 11 AM & 2 PM to 6PM Summer: (Feb to Jun) 6.30 AM to 10.30 AM & 2.30 PM to 6.30 PM |
