13 Nights / 14 days Destination : Mumbai - Calicut - Vythiri - Guruvayur - Munnar Periyar Kumarakom - Mararikulam - Cochin ![]() Day 1: Arrival Mumbai Arrival Mumbai and transfer to the hotel. Morning at leisure. Afternoon excursion to Elephanta caves. A ferry ride across the harbor takes you to Gharapuri the local name for Elephanta. Almost at its center the island rises into two conical hillocks. The island stone elephant was found when they landed there in the 16th century. These eight-century rock-cut caves were hewn out of the hills and sculpted intricately. Day 2: Mumbai - Calicut by flight and Calicut-Vythiri (55 kms) Morning transfer to airport to connect flight for Calicut (Kozhikode) and on arrival, a short orientation tour of the city. Later drive to Vythiri, which is quite like Ooty with its undulating hills and dales. On arrival check in at hotel. Rest of the day at leisure. Day 3: In Vythiri Full day at leisure to enjoy and explore the nature. Vythiri is located in the Waynad District in North Kerala, India. Waynad is rich in coffee and spice plantations. Waynad is steeped in history and traditions which historians claim date as far back as 10 centuries before Christ. They refer to the Edakkal Caves as evidence where ancient carvings have been traced to a highly civilized people from the pre-historic stone ages. Waynad is also home to proud indigenous tribesmen. Numerous tribal communities co-exist with a well-settled planter population. Overnight stay at the Hotel. Day 4: Vythiri - Guruvayur ( 185 kms) Morning drive to Guruvayur and on arrival, check in at the hotel Afternoon visit Sri Krishna Temple (Guruvayurappan Temple). (Non-Hindus not allowed in the sanctum sanctorum). Also visit the elephant camp at Punnathur kotta where over forty elephants are groomed /trained. Day 5: Guravayur - Munnar (175 kms) Morning drive to Munnar, a popular hill station of the South en route visit Kalamandalam dance school training in Kathakali dance drama and other indigenous performing arts of Kerala like Mohiniyattam, Panchavadyam and Thullal. On arrival in Munnar, check in at the hotel. Afternoon visit of Tea /Spice Plantations. Day 6: Munnar - Periyar (100 kms) Morning drive to Periyar and on arrival, check in at the hotel. Late afternoon enjoy a boat cruise on Lake Periyar to view wildlife. Day 7: Periyar - Kumarakom (114 kms) Morning drive to Kumarakom, on the backwaters of Kerala and on arrival, check at hotel. Afternoon at leisure to relax or enjoy a rejuvenating Ayurvedic massage at the hotel. ![]() Day 8: Kumarakom - Houseboat Late morning board the Kettuvalam, your fascinating houseboat and spend the day cursing through the backwaters /canals of Kerala. Day 9: Houseboat-Alleppey-Mararikulam Morning disembarks from the houseboat at Alleppey and drive to Mararikulam, with its endless miles of superb beaches. Rest of the day at leisure to enjoy the beach. Day 10: In Mararikulam Full day at leisure. Day 11: In Mararikulam Full day at leisure. Day 12: Mararikulam - Cochin (56 kms) Morning drive to Cochin, one of the finest natural harbors on the Arabian Sea coast and on arrival, check in at the hotel. Afternoon city tour of Cochin. Kochi is the only place in the country where you can see Portuguese Churches, a Jewish Synagogue, Hindu Temples, And Dutch Architecture & Mosque. As we sail along the shady canals we see cantilevered Chinese fishing nets. From our launch, we enjoy use of narrow produced - Laden dugouts & the everyday life of families living on narrow spits of land between the waters. Later we attend the performance of the Kathkali, one of India's most famous Classical dances. Lavish Costumes & Exotic makeup & Masks intensify the beauty of the dancers, intricate moments. Day 13: Cochin / Mumbai Morning transfer to airport to connect flight for Mumbai and on arrival proceeds directly for a city tour of Mumbai. In time transfer to the airport to connect flight for onward destination or check in at the hotel for overnight stay to take your flight the next day.
