Tamil Nadu. The gateway to the south, Chennai, one of the four
metropolises of India still represents the distinct aspects of the
highest form of Dravidian culture and heritage. It is the capital of

It was a cluster of coastal villages - Triplicane, Mylapore, Tiruvottiyur, Pallavaram, as well as several other villages on the banks of the Coovum and Adyar rivers and was the centre of a flourishing trade of spices and textiles. The city falls into three main areas, the George Town, original centre of the British trade and Parry's corner, the focal point having shipping offices, narrow streets of bazaars and city bus terminals. To the south is Anna salai and the two main railway stations. This area has many top end hotels, restaurants and airline offices. South west of egmore is Nugambakkam a busy area with consulate offices, big show rooms and several offices. The Triplicane area, southeast of Edmore has lot of budget accommodation and the famous Marina beach. Places of Interest The Santhome Cathedral Church Church named after the beach built St. Thomas in the 14th & 15th centuries. It is a historical & Pilgrimage Center. The Sri Parthasarathy Temple Devoted to Lord Krishna, was originally built by the Pallavas in the 8th century.
