![]() South Goa has an absolute Paradise. South Goa has become increasingly popular since the flood of charter flights begun in the 1980s. Its beaches are beautiful yet generally less crowded. The landscape is lush green with paddy fields and thick coconut groves. Some of the finest churches in Goa are found here. The deepest imprints of Portuguese culture are embedded in the landscape and the lifestyle of the people. In the interiors are centuries old mansion estates. All in all, romantic, beautiful and a complete Goan experience. Margao (Madgaon) & Surrounding Areas Margao, the capital of Salcete province, is a sleepy market town and road rail junction, which wakens when its sprawling covered market is an in full swing. It is the state's richest and most fertile taluka. Pleasantly. Provincial, it was given the status of a villa (town) by Royal decree in 1778. Chandrapura The site of Chandrapura first drew the attention of archaeologists in 1929, and excavations since indicate the ancient fortress and temple found here date back to the 3rd century BC. Southern Beach Villages Goa's longest beach-and one of the finest in Asia-starts just south of Bogmalo headland in Mormugao province and seems to go on forever. Hotels and small resorts are scattered along its 25 km length, clustering around former fishing villages. Cansaulim Not to be confused with Candolim, in Bardez province, this village marks the northern beginning of south Goa's fabulous beach strip. From here the beach blends seamlessly with Colva, and the sands then run unbroken as far as the Sal River.
Majorda Majorda is situated five km south of Cansaulim and two km inland from the beach, which is the main attraction here. The 18th century Church of Our Lady lends the village historic interest. Colva Colva village, midway along the stretch of a beach that bears its name is about eight km west of Margao. It has grown into the biggest village on the southern coast and it the hub of a string of hotels and restaurants. Margao's elite once used the beach as a summer retreat just before the monsoons. Beautiful sands, swaying palms and blue waters, its worth visiting early mornings when its it tranquil all around. Benaulim Benaulim village, immediately south of Colva, is land marked by the hilltop church of St John Baptist, which stands above the village about one km inland from the beach. According to the myth of Parasurama on the creation of Goa, this is where the arrow fell. Mobor Mobor village lies on a narrow peninsula where the river Sal joins the sea. The Sal is a busy river and harbor for fishing boats, also very pleasant for boat rides. The beaches are quieter and cleaner than at Colva. Betul An important fishing village in an idyllic setting, Betul overlooks Mobor From the opposite bank of the Sal River. The village is dependent on fishing and coir production and dated with coconut palms, jackfruit, banana and papaya trees. Cabo de Rama Named after the hero of the Hindu epic Ramayana, who is said to have lived here with his wife Sita during his period of exile. Its origins pre-date the arrival of the Portuguese who captured it in 1763. Cabo de Rama extends into the Arabian Sea. It's complete tranquility here. Detailed Itinerary & Price will be
